Meet the Team: Melinda Spinks and Eva Pizarro plus a GIVEAWAY!

Melinda Spinks lives on a farm in North East Victoria, Australia with her husband and two children.  She is a farmer's wife first and foremost and creates when her children are in bed and her husband is asleep after a hard day of work on the farm.  Melinda began scrapbooking in 2009 and hasn't looked back since.  Melinda describes her scrapbooking style as "whimsical" and some of her favorite technqiues include paper piecing, quilling, rolling, and doodling among others.   We are thrilled to welcome Melinda to our team this year.

Describe yourself in 3 words … difficult question (that's two words LOL!) - happy, passionate, creative

My guilty pleasure is … time to myself! As much as I live for my family, I seriously love to have a few small moments all to myself, to rejuvenate and rest, even if it's just long enough to read a magazine and have a full can of diet coke to myself!

You’ll never find me without … my camera! You just never know when you are going to be faced with the perfect photo ...  a moment in time that you don't want to forget, espcially as our children seem to be growing so fast!

Growing up I … never had a care in the world. I had a simple, honest, and happy childhood with a large family in the country and it was the perfect start to my life! (Thanks Mum and Dad)

You might be surprised to know that I … learned the piano for 17 years and can't play a single note without a piece of music in front of me!

If I could live anywhere in the world it would be … home on the farm! I know there are so many gorgeous, exotic and romantic places dotted around the world but I'm happiest at home!

My least favorite chore is … ironing - I don't do it! If an item of clothing doesn't pass the scrunch test in the shop, it doesn't get to come home with me!

If I had one wish it would be … a never ending glue runner! Oh, and world peace! :)

Here's what Melinda has to say about her project ... "When Lynn first asked us to create a layout about ourselves I panicked and thought "no way - I don't even like having my photo taken."  However, as this was my first assignment I didn't think it was a good idea to stomp my feet, hold my breath, and refuse the task. Although I haven't journaled about myself on the layout, I have interpreted a bit of my personality into the design and the colour scheme. A little bit simple, a little bit fussy, a helping of bright and cheerful and a hint of something a bit more in depth."

Eva Pizarro has been living in Italy for the past 6 years with her husband although she is originally from Chile.  She discovered scrapbooking 2 years ago thanks to a friend and immediately fell in love.  Eva is drawn to bright colors when she scrapbooks and states that her journaling is the most important part of her layouts.  Scrapbooking has provided Eva the perfect way to to express her inner feelings and emotions all while getting in touch with her creative side.  We are so happy to have Eva as part of our team this term.

Describe yourself in 3 words . . . sensitive, curious, creative

My guilty pleasure is
. . . good italian food. When I arrived to Italy I gained almost 10 pounds! I ate lots of pasta, gelato and pizza ... yummy!

You’ll never find me without . . . my MAC. Love it!

Growing up I . . .  had lots pets: 2 birds, 2 rabbits, 1 dog, 1 fish, 1 hamster, 1 rooster and lots of chickens and chicks.

You might be surprised to know that I . . . am a natural blonde ... just kidding! :D

If I could live anywhere in the world it would be . . . in a place near the beach, with good food, mild weather all year long and lots of scrapbook stores.  If any of you knows this place please let me know!

My least favorite chore is … ironing.  I love to do it but not as much as cleaning the toilet! LOL!

If I had one wish it would be . .  to have a large family.

Here's what Eva had to say about her project ... "I like to do layouts about myself, record the things I do in a certain period of my life, my fears, joys and emotions.  For this layout I decided to list some of my favorite things, nothing very deep, just the simple things.  The Twitterpated collection was perfect for mylayout, I love the color palette and all the gorgeous flowers designs."

I loved getting to meet your new design team. This seems to be a bunch of very talented ladies. Thanks so much for all the inspiration you already brought me with your 'introducing myself-layouts':) I can't wait to see what you'll come up with, using the new Pebbles lines.

I love getting to know the designers! Really adds that personal touch! I've been inspired by this because all too often, I'm the one doing the picture taking and when I go to scrap events, I'm often not even in the picture. I'm seriously thinking of not only changing that aspect, but also to do an album just about myself to make sure that I am in some pictures!

It was intereseting to see how the layouts reflected their personalities and interests - what is special to them, and inspired me with seeing different styles and techniques.

And it was also interesting also to hear how they work and what inspires them.

This was a great way to get to know the gals!

I think I need to take a moment this weekend to make a page about me-- the last one I did was about three years ago.... I think some things have changed :)

These ladies have rocked out layouts all week and I have been inspired to tell my story! I'm always scrapping about my kiddos and family, but never really tell my story! So much cuteness here- truely inspiring!

It's fun to learn more about the designers. I'm going to try to do more layouts on just "me". I usually scrap about my son but I hardly do anything on just little ol' me. I'll try.

I have loved reading about all the ladies!! I loved the challenge and was happy to hear that scared them as it would have me. I loved seeing that you didnt have to make a page with a big close up mug shot of yourself to make a good "about me" page. Thanks for sharing!!!

There is many reasons I know to do layouts about yourself, I would love my little boy to go through the albums I have made and to read things about me, like leaving a legacy, and it is so much more interesting to see the bright embellishments this only entices me to read more. Gorgeous papers and layouts lady's.Melxx

I am enjoyed seeing the faces behind all the great creative work. I have also enjoyed the questions that you asked and these would be great to complete a layout about myself.

I loved seeing all the different styles of scrapbooking on the layouts... and new ideas/techniques to try out myself! They are all so pretty =)

(waving hi to Eva!)

This week was encouragement and inspiration to scrap about myself. I just don't do it, but it is important.

Kim said...

I think what has inspired me the most is just the fact about doing a layout about yourself. I tend to shy away from having my picture taken. I am always behind the lens, not in front of it. This has challenged me to take the time to scrap me for a change.
