Design team member Eva Pizarro created this card using a fun paper ruffling technique.  Here's what Eva had to say ... "Last week I did lots of ruffles for a DIY project I was working on and that inspired me to try and do some ruffles with my paper. To do them simply soak the paper in water for 30-40 seconds and start sewing! Push the paper under the foot on your sewing machine to create the ruffle. Let dry or, I you cannot wait, use your embossing gun! Embellish your card with your favorite Pebbles embellishments!"

How To Tuesday

First things first, I have a winner to announce from last week's "Guest Designer" giveaway. Thank you all so much for your comments. And the lucky winner is ...

Design team member Samantha Sibbet shares a fun technique with us today to create your own chevron or zig zag design.  Here's what Samantha had to say ..."Everywhere I look these days I see fabulous chevron and zig zag patterns from sweet summer dresses to the coziest quilts.  I thought I would give it go with paper and make it into a "How To " while I was at it!"

First, cut your patterned paper into 3/4" x 12" strips.  Cut black cardstock into 1" x 12" strips.  Adhere the patterned paper down the middle of the black cardstock.

Before I made the two cuts in my strip as shown in the photo, I marked the strips at 4" and 4 1/2" inches.  I made a 45 degree angle cut between the 4" mark and 4 1/2" inch mark.  Repeat at the 8" mark.

After making the two cuts, I removed the center strip piece and made a v.

Before gluing my strips down to my cardstock base, I drew a vertical line with a pencil.  This is where I want my zig zag to meet.  I glued the left side down and made sure it was even with my pencil line, any stragglers were sliced off with a craft knife.

I matched up the other side of strips and erased my pencil line.

I put the edge of my lay out under a guillotine cutter and trimmed off any excess paper strips.

Now, there may be a much simpler way to do this, it was my first time!  If you try this technique, we would love to see what you do!  Thanks for joining me today.

"My daughter started riding lessons last year, she absolutely loves it.  This big horse was called Thor and while he was stubborn Yasmin did a great job keeping him going! I even pulled in some floral embellishments from the Floral Lane collection. The clouds are punched from cardstock, and layered with a cloud punched from vellum. I even mixed in a brad from Pebbles Tree House Collection to complete the  card!"

Guest Designer: Marcy Penner and a GIVEAWAY!

Hi everyone! Marcy created so many amazing projects for us today including this one about the sweet wildflowers her sons like to pick for her.  Here's what Marcy had to say ... "I really love that my little guys still pick flowers for me.  To mimic the theme I worked with some flower embellishments and purples and pinks.  (I don't use those colors a lot when scrapbooking my boys!)  I created a little flower cluster and tied my photo with twine."

"Sometimes what happens is that I get going on my layouts and come really close to finishing and then realize that I forgot to include something I intended on from the beginning.  When I made this layout I wanted to use the little toothpick flags (which I love) ... but I wasn't sure where to use them!  In the end I trimmed them off their little wooden sticks and used them as banners along the top of my page instead."

"My parent's anniversary is coming up and I didn't know if I wanted to make a card or a tag.  So I did both.  I created the tag and attached it to the card with the fabric brad.  As the day approaches maybe I'll decide one way or another.  If I go with the tag I'll simply remove it from the card."

Design team member Christa Paustenbaugh used a grid design on this layout to showcase photos from her family's summer adventures.  Here's what Christa had to say ... "To say we had a summer packed with fun is a huge understatement!  We traveled all over the place to see family and enjoy some rest and relaxation.  I wanted to put several photos of the various places we had gone on the layout, so I cropped them to 2.5" x 2.5" and made a grid.  To make them stand out a bit from the bright Happy Go Lucky papers I used foam adhesive to give them a little oomph.  I added a few other embellishments that were bright and summery to me to go along with our happy summer and happy page!"

"I decided to create a clean and simple layout going with a more graphic. Design team member Ginger Williams created this colorful layout to document how her boys entertained themselves this summer.  Here's what Ginger had to say ... "I was very excited when I got this topic for my assignment this week. We had a fabulous summer and did lots of fun things and went to a couple of very cool places. The hardest part of this assignment was picking just one thing to scrapbook. After sorting through lots of photos I decided I wanted to scrapbook one of our "boredom buster days." On these days we tried to find something unusual to do together at home. On this day we decided to make toys out of a package of red plastic cups. They become building blocks for castles, pyramids, forts, and a lot of fun and laughter that day! It was one of my favorite days this summer!"

Design team member Kim Kesti enjoyed a "staycation" with her family this summer and documents one of her family's favorite activities - creating a monster parade from homemade playdough!  Here's what Kim had to say ... "Our family enjoyed a "staycation" this summer so we filled our days with swimming, games, and crafts. One of our favorite crafts was making homemade playdough. The kids had a ball making funny creatures and I had a blast snapping photos. I wanted this layout to reflect the colorful day.”
