How To Tuesday
Today design team member Kim Kesti shares a tutorial for creating your own patterned buttons using Pebbles patterned paper. Here's what Kim had to say ... "I wanted to share a little tutorial with you today on DIY buttons. I adore using buttons on my cards and layouts and sometimes I want something a little more customized than what my button jar has to offer. Enjoy!”
I’m going to show you different buttons - for the first you will need clear buttons, paper scraps and Glossy Accents adhesive.
Just drop a dab of glue (smaller than a dime) on your paper and firmly press your clear button right on top. Some of you probably already know this trick, but I always love how fresh it looks with new patterned paper styles.
After the glue dries (it dries really clear), just trim around the edge with your scissors. Easy peasy.
For the second button style, punch same sized circles from thin chipboard and patterned paper. I used a 1” circle punch. Again, drop a dab of glue on the chipboard and adhere the patterned paper. Also, add some Glossy Accents to the top of the patterned paper for a pretty shine. Let dry and added your “buttonholes” with a paper piercer.
Here’s a card I created using both types of my DIY buttons. They add such a unique little flair to my creations.
Here’s a tag I whipped up using the chipboard button a little differently. I layered it with a brad and used it to fasten my tag. It almost looks like real wood, doesn’t it? Fun. Thanks for following along – try making your own custom buttons, it’s so much fun!

Mix & Match Monday
It's Monday again, which means we'll be mixing and matching some Pebbles products to show you just how well our collections can be used with one another.
Design team member Sarah Webb created this sweet layout using several different Pebbles collections. Here's what Sarah had to say ... "One of the things I love about a mix and match assignment, is the freedom to just spread out and choose whatever suits my mood. It's extra easy when all the lines work together so well!"

Design team member Pearl Liu created this sweet set of cards. Here's what Pearl had to say ... "" I wanted to challenge myself to use holiday or themed lines for everyday cards and was delighted how this 6x6 square card set turned out. I mixed papers and embellishments from Christmas , Valentine's and Baby Girl themes and the elements came together effortlessly and harmoniously. This just goes to show how versatile Pebbles' papers and embellishments really are beyond the original themes they were created for. "

More "Scraplifted" Projects with Suzanne and I
Design team member Suzanne Sergi lifted fellow team member Laura Craigie. Here's what Suzanne had to say ... "I fell in love with Laura's 'sugar cookie' scrapbook page. I loved the strong graphic feel to her page, and the clean lines throughout. The bold title created in the middle of the page was one of my favorite elements. She has a fabulous ability to create strong, and striking pages with few embellishments. So, she also inspired my title for my page of my daughter. I also picked up on her cue, on creating simple borders along my 4x6 photo. A few floral embellishments, and tags rounded out my page, using the colorful Fresh Goods collection. Love Laura's style, and the layout above was definitely on my list to scraplift!"

More "Scraplifted" Projects with Ashley and Melanie
Design team member Ashley Stephens scraplifted fellow team member Sarah Webb. Here is what Ashley had to say ... "For this week's challenge, I chose to scraplift this beautiful page by Sarah Webb. I'm always very drawn to the way she chooses to group elements, and this page was a perfect example. I love how she placed her title near the bottom of the page, the way she used little strips of paper under her photos, and her clustered embellishments. I changed it up just a little bit, choosing to group my photos with the title, but I kept the general layout the same."

More "Scraplifted" Projects with Christa, Valerie, and Jill
Design team member Christa Paustenbaugh scraplifted a layout from fellow team member Mandie Pierce. Here's what Christa had to say ... "I have been a huge fan of Mandie Pierce's since before she was on the Pebbles design team and always love all her layouts! I chose the 'Dear California' because I adored the simple block design and the larger photo. I swapped out a large photo and made room for 3 smaller ones in mine. I kept with the same general design of hers: title on top, journaling on bottom and prominent embellishment on the right side, and just switched up a few other items for embellishment."

I love the blocks of pattern on the background, the linear design, the bright color and the white space. Her design was easily adapted into a 12 x 12 format. I used a strip of 3 vertical photos across the lower third, maintaining the white space at the top. Design team member Jill Cornell was inspired by a recent tutorial from fellow team member Christa Paustenbaugh. Here's what Jill had to say ... "I was very inspired by Christa Paustenbaugh's layout she created for a recent "How-To Tuesday" blog post in January. I loved the butterfly shape that she made using her Silhouette and patterned paper strips. I created this two-page layout using the same technique on my apple. I selected patterned papers with red in them so that I had a monochromatic look to help the apple blend more into the page design. Because the apple was a central part of the design, I kept the rest of my layout fairly simple with minimal embellishments."

More "Scraplifted" Projects with Stephanie and Eva
Design team member Stephanie Baxter was inspired by our recent guest designer Nicole Samuels. Here's what Stephanie had to say ... "“I was super inspired by this layout by guest designer Nicole Samuels. I just love the title work going down the length of the page and the way she used those fabulous heart-shaped Candy Dots. I changed the page to an 8.5x11 but kept the focus on the title by letting it span the length of the page like on Nicole’s and mixing and matching the different alphabet stickers. I love the fact that it allows the title to do the job of the journaling too, without having to leave an extra space to write anything extra. I think I’ll definitely be trying some more big titles in the future...it’s so fun!”

Theme: Scraplift a Design Team Member
Happy Monday everyone! This week on the Pebbles blog it's all about scraplifting! What is "scraplifting" you ask? Scraplifting is the the act of "lifting" or copying ideas and/or designs from another person’s scrapbook page to use in your own pages. Designs or ideas can be copied in whole or in part. And most importantly be sure to give credit where credit is due. If you do "lift" someone else's idea be sure to mention where the idea originated. I've asked some of our design team members to "scraplift" their fellow teammates.
Design team member Gretchen McElveen decided to "lift" a layout by design team member Melanie Blackburn. Here's what Gretchen had to say ... "I struggle with using two horizontal pictures on a page. Two vertical ones I can handle and 3 horizontal, no problem! But two horizontal pictures stump me! So when I say how Melanie Blackburn used the two pictures on this layout I knew I had to scraplift it to finally scrap these two pictures I have had printed for a while now! The pictures are vertical on her layout so I just turned her layout to the right and viola! Now the pictures are horizontal! And then I just scraplifted from there! Thank you Melanie for the inspiration!!"

Design team member Wendy Sue Anderson decided to scraplift fellow team member Christa Paustenbaugh. Here's what Wendy had to say ... " I was so excited for this blog assignment…because I knew there were SO many wonderful projects to choose from – I am surrounded by such talented women on this design team! It took me a long time to decide which project to scraplift…but I finally decided on this cute card by Christa. I love the clean and simple design, and knew it would be the perfect scheme to use as a starting point for this set of gender-neutral (because I never have enough BOY cards on hand)birthday cards. Thanks for the inspiration, Christa!"

Free For All Friday
Happy Friday everyone! We are wrapping up the week with a "free for all" project from design team member Valerie Magnan. Here's what Valerie had to say ... "It was all about birthdays for me this week. My little gift box, made from a round chipboard box turned upside down, is the perfect size for a gift card or small item. It was as fun to decorate as a real cake! (These would make great containers for party favors, too.) My card is decorated with the same flowers and 'leaves' as the little cake."

Sketchy Thursday
For today's edition of "Sketchy Thursday" I asked some of our design team members to create a project based on this fabulous sketch by Becky Fleck.
Design team member Anna Sigga made this sketch her own on this fun layout. Here's what Anna had to say ... "Sketches are so much fun to work with and an excellent mojo-booster. I really like the general set-up of the sketch so i kinda went with the flow. I started by looking at the sketch for a while, then put it aside and created my layout and keeping in mind those points I liked about the sketch. My layout may not look exactly like the sketch but the inspiration if 100% from the sketch."
