More Scraplifted Projects with Shawna

Patty's Original Project

Shawna's "Lifted" Project

For my scraplift i used Patty Kumfer's layout titled Holiday Photo Season.  The way my photos were facing I didn't like the same angle she used so I printed the layout and flipped it upside down.  This worked perfectly. I love all the blues in the floral paper to go with my beach pictures so I built off of that."  - Shawna Webster, Pebbles Design Team Member

Nicole's "Lifted" Project

"I really loved everything about Patty’s original page. She used some of my favorite products from the Seen & Noted line and I loved the cluster of photos on the page. So, I used Patty’s page as a sketch and dug into my Seen & Noted stash as well! The page is not my typical style, but I love how it turned out!"  - Nicole Nowosad, Pebbles Design Team Member

Donna's Original Project

Kim's "Lifted" Project

“The hardest part of this assignment was choosing who to scraplift; we have such amazing talent on the Pebbles team. In the end, I chose a layout by Donna Jannuzzi. I love how light and fresh her layout is; I also really like the photos framed in white. Donna’s layout offered lots of inspiration for me with her use of the Seen & Noted elements, too. I’m just tickled to has these Nerd Birthday photos scrapped and in my album.” - Kim Kesti, Pebbles Design Team Member

Renee's Original Project

Amelie's "Lifted" Project

“For this assignment, I chose the layout “Have a Sweet Christmas” by Renee Zwirek. This layout inspired me immediately! I love the simple design of this page with, nevertheless, a lot of little things to look at! I also love the vellum paper with embellishments in transparency.  The things in common with my layout?  The centered design, the hearts in transparency and ink stains!  For this project, I mixed the Seen & Noted and Walnut Grove collections.”  - Amelie Mordret, Pebbles Design Team Member

In the end I decided to scraplift a layout by Amelie Mordret, I love the composition and tried to stay true to that on my layout. Because I didn't have time to do stitching I added some twine to give the layout some movement."  - Eva Pizarro, Pebbles Design Team Member

Theme: Scraplift a Design Team Member

Happy Monday everyone!  This week on the Pebbles blog it's all about scraplifting!  What is "scraplifting" you ask?  Scraplifting is the the act of "lifting" or copying ideas and/or designs from another person’s scrapbook page to use in your own pages.  Designs or ideas can be copied in whole or in part.  And most importantly be sure to give credit where credit is due.  If you do "lift" someone else's idea be sure to mention where the idea originated.  I've asked some of our design team members to "scraplift" their fellow teammates.

Patty's Original Project

Emily's "Scraplifted" Project

"I chose Patricia’s non-traditional holiday layout to scraplift. I loved her look of big horizontal strips of patterned paper along the top of the layout.  When I began my project, I had basically flipped her layout upside down, with my photos in the upper right-hand corner, but the more I pushed my papers and pictures around, the less it looked like the actual layout!!  The final result is fairly different than the original, but my original inspiration of the broad horizontal strips of paper remains!"  - Emily Spahn, Pebbles Design Team Member

Guest Designer: Michelle Unruh and a GIVEAWAY!

Hi everyone! I am so excited to introduce you to this week's Guest Designer Michelle Unruh!  Let's get to know Michelle a little better ...

Describe yourself in 3 words … family oriented, chatty, loyal.

My guilty pleasure is … only one?? ;) Green & Black's chocolate (thanks to a scrappy friend in Wales ;) )

You’ll never find me without … a can of Coke and my camera.

You might be surprised to know that I … do not own an iPhone/smart phone/droid or an iPod. I have an old "not so smart" flip phone. LOL

My least favorite chore is … cleaning bathrooms.

I started scrapbooking in ... 2001- remember Creative Memories Mrs. Grossman Stickers and the strips and triangles?? :)

My favorite thing about this hobby is ... the friends I have made.

If I were a Pebbles product I would be … the phrase cards.

"With Valentine's Day around the corner, I thought it would be fun to pull some of the pinks and teal from the Walnut Grove line and make a banner to hang from my entertainment center.  I cut the banner shape and letters with my die cutting machine, digging through my Pebbles product pulling the flowers and hearts from a baby girl line and doilies from my stash."

Sketchy Thursday

For today's edition of "Sketchy Thursday" we asked some of our design team members to create a project based on this exclusive sketch by Becky Fleck.

"I love working with sketches! This one was really fun to create with. I changed it a bit and decided to use a big photo instead of 3 smaller ones, for the background I did a sunburst with some of the lovely papers from the Family Ties collection added some embellishments and a hidden journal and my layout is complete!"  - Eva Pizzaro, Pebbles Design Team Member

Dear Pebbles

Good morning everyone!  Today we are featuring cards from some of our design team members using their favorite Pebbles products.

“I have some difficulties with making cards.  Each time, I spend a lot of time to make a card, more than for a layout! I don’t know why it’s so hard for me! Maybe because I search for a kind of harmony to it.  I tend to do, undo, redo .... so many times! I like simple design for cards and as usual when they have stitching. To create these cards, I’ve used my two favorite collections: Seen & Noted and Walnut Grove!"  - Amelie Mordret, Pebbles Design Team Member

"The Family Ties collection is such a versatile collection.  With its unique color scheme and fun mix of patterns you can make cards that are more masculine or feminine in nature.  For my first card I went the feminine route and chose lots of florals to adorn my card and sentiment.  For my second card I chose more masculine patterns and used a gender neutral grid design to house these fun circle stickers."  - Lynn Ghahary, Pebbles Design Team Member

How To Tuesday

"With die cuts, confetti, and clear elements all current trends, I decided to combine all three by creating a clear, confetti-filled die cut pocket on my layout, using products from the fun and colorful Seen & Noted and Family Ties product lines. While I used a die cutting machine to create my shape, this technique can be easily replicated with punches or by cutting a shape with a craft knife. Ready? Here we go!"  - Vivian Masket, Pebbles Design Team Member

First, I printed my journaling on my background cardstock and then ran it through my die cutting machine, cutting out a mask shape.

Second, I cut the same mask shape out of black cardstock, cut it to 4 x 6, and adhered it over the white background.

Third, I created my confetti pocket. Using my paper trimmer, I trimmed a page protector down to 3 x 6. I then punched a gazillion small circles out of various pieces of paper from the Seen & Noted and Family Ties 6 x 6 paper pads. While you could just throw the confetti in the pocket and sew up the edges, I decided I wanted to go with a "controlled confetti" look so I used adhesive to adhere the dots inside my pocket.

Fourth, I finished my layout by adding my photo, a block of Seen & Noted patterned paper, a Family Ties sticker and phrase card, and stars punched from some of the same papers I used to make the confetti. I finished the layout by adhering the confetti pocket to the back of the layout behind my die cut mask.

Last, I adhered the die cut eye pieces from the mask to the front of the confetti pocket. Here's what the finished layout looks like:

How about trying this technique on your next layout or card?

More Double Page Layouts with Jaclyn and Renee

"Sometimes a two page layout can be a daunting task, as you try to coordinate and balance each page individually and as a whole.  If a two page layout is needed, and I'm struggling to make it work, I usually go for a grid style approach.  This creates a more manageable formula for plugging in your pictures, papers, journaling and embellishments.  For this page, I sized my supporting photos at 3x3 inches, and reached for my stack of Journaling and Phrase cards from the Seen & Noted and Family Ties collections.  I then trimmed the selected the cards down to match my photo size and plugged them in to the spaces left behind by the picture collage.  With the formal design process out of the way, I then had the freedom to play and embellish with all the final stickers, bits and details."  - Jaclyn Rench, Pebbles Design Team Member

I loved using the Family Ties Collection for this double layout. It was a perfect fit. I loved combining the different pattern papers for my background and then layering lots of different embellishments. I added a pocket journaling card, from the Seen and Noted Collection, for a quick reference of each photo. I had a lot of fun creating this double page layout full of wonderful memories!" - Renee Zwirek, Pebbles Design Team Member

More Double Page Layouts with Wendy Sue and Laurel

"I love creating double-page layouts – I think it’s so much easier to scrapbook lots of photos to tell a story when the canvas is twice as big!  I had all of these 4x6 photos printed and waiting to be scrapbooked – as you can see, I was able to trim some of them slightly and fit a total of EIGHT pictures on two 8 ½” x 11” pages…and there was still oodles of room for lots of fun patterned paper and embellishments too!  I placed the title directly on top of a few of the photos as a space-saver.  Since I pretty much filled the pages with my design, I added some journaling on the back of the right-hand page – which I think is a great way to make sure the story is still being recorded.  Another option would have been to tuck the journaling behind one of the photos.  Yay for scrapbooking lots of photos on one spread!"  - Wendy Sue Anderson, Pebbles Design Team Member

More Double Page Layouts with Laura

"This was a real challenge for me, but I knew right away the perfect pictures for the job.  I've been saving these 10 photo's to scrap one day and I'm so glad I finally did.  I mixed a couple Pebbles lines and just pulled colors from my photographs.  The Family Ties phrase card made for a perfect title which I added to with corrugated stickers.  It's hard to see but I united the two pages further by stitching around the perimeter of the layout with a matching yellow thread color." - Laura Craigie, Pebbles Design Team Member

Theme: Make Mine A Double!

Happy Monday everyone!  This week on the Pebbles blog will have you seeing double - double page layouts that is!  I've challenged some of our design team members to create a double page layout using their favorite Pebbles supplies.

"My husband and I have a favorite restaurant we like to dine at whenever our son Christopher is away at camp. It’s the place we celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary. It’s the place that serves the best scallops I’ve ever tasted. It’s the kind of place where the wait staff are like friends. It was time to create a page about Bruno with a collage of photos and the colorful and fun Seen & Noted collection."  - Kathy Martin, Pebbles Design Team Member

"I think I might be one of those few people that the thought of a 2 page layout doesn't scare me, but actually makes me a bit excited! I love to use lots of photos on layouts and sometimes there just isn't enough room and I have to spill over onto another page.  Combine that for my love of journaling and that's when it becomes a requirement!  For this layout I used lots of instagram photos (15 in all!) from our 7 months so far in Okinawa, Japan. We have done lots of exploring and I wanted to highlight those hot points of interest in one layout instead of making 5+ layouts for all the places we've been and the things we have seen.  The photos and journaling take center stage, then I merely added my cut title from my Silhouette and small embellishments here and there for a completed layout."  - Christa Paustenbaugh, Pebbles Design Team Member
